I have been seeing V-Mart stores popping up in my city, for the past three years.
When I read about the recent acquisition of Limeroad by V-Mart, I was curious to learn more about it.
V-Mart – the chain of retail clothing stores has been operating for two decades now. Founded in 2003, by Lalit Agarwal – the chain offers a luxury shopping experience for Tier 2,3 & 4 shoppers.
Today, V-Mart has expanded to 410+ stores, spread across the country and the retail giant closed FY 22 with INR 1,680.13 Crores in turnover. A whopping 53.23% compared to the last financial year.
I was surprised to learn that Lalit started his first business while still a student at Narsee Monjee, Mumbai. He saw an opportunity in the printing and packaging space and bagged Godrej Soaps as a client.
The first order was for INR 1,50,000-/ to make soap wrappers, this was a big win for a college student.
The same risk-taking young college student (in spirit) continues to expand and grow V-Mart stores in offbeat locations.
